A man on the ocean spots a woman floating face down in the moonlight. She is painted (tattooed) like a mandarin fish all over and has barnacles on her shoulders and hips. When he lifts her aboard, she comes to, but starts gasping for air and then jumps back into the water. He dives in after her, only to find her on the bottom being skittish and distant. He goes back-up to his boat to get his underwater camera. On his return, he finds that his time with her has been reduced, when a shark swims into his vision. With the painted wonder on the reef watching, he climbs onto his boat. Panting like a jungle cat. He wonders, fifty years down the road
